New Study Illustrates Type 2 Diabetes Drug Actos's Potential to Cause Vision Problems

The researchers followed more than 100,000 people in the British Health Improvement Network Database with type 2 diabetes. According to the HealthDay story, patients who received thiazolidinediones - a class of diabetes medications that includes Actos - were at two-to-three-fold increased risk of developing macular edema, a swelling of the part of the eye that is responsible for sharp vision when looking straight ahead.
