COCOA, FL, June 20, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- D. Thomas Meade, Federal Law Enforcement Officer for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in federal law enforcement.
Mr. Meade entered law enforcement after serving in the U.S. Air Force, Security Police, during the Vietnam War. He has 37 years of experience in his field, including six years as a federal law enforcement officer for the NASA Security Department. With a high degree of expertise in Law Enforcement and security, he is a Criminal Investigator for Chenega Security & Support Solutions at the Kennedy Space Center. Before starting work at The Kennedy Space Center, Mr. Meade served on the original SWAT team for the Portage Indiana Police Department, assisted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in a Violent Crimes Task Force, and worked as a Hostage/Crisis Negotiator and undercover narcotics officer. He also worked with the Indiana Fraternal Order of Police Critical Incident Stress Management team, which counseled fellow officers and personnel after a critical event. Following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Mr. Meade assisted morgue personnel and officers in New York City with counseling efforts, providing empathy, comfort, and education to responders who witnessed the disaster. Mr. Meade's selfless dedication throughout his career has been recognized with numerous service awards; he has received more than 50 letters of commendation and appreciation from the numerous departments with which he has worked after critical events.
Mr. Meade always wanted to work in the field of law enforcement, and attributes his success to his interpersonal skills, desire to work with people, and ability to maintain professionalism to reach objectives, After earning a high school diploma, he graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and became a Certified Firearms Instructor and a Certified Hostage/Crisis Negotiator. He is also certified in critical and stress management peer support. Mr. Meade is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and in 1982 was voted the American Legion Officer of the Year for the Portage Police Department. He is a two-time recipient of both the Exceptional Service Award and the Meritorious Service Award. Mr. Meade has also graduated from the NASA Federal Law Enforcement Academy and continues to work as a Hostage/Crisis Negotiator and Peer Support worker.
