HONG KONG, June 23, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A new production of the critically acclaimed drama Red will be performed at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre from July 6th to 15th 2012.
Staged by the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre company, the play is directed by distinguished director Fung Wai Hang and will see sparks flying between co-stars Ko Hon Man and Yau Ting Fai.
Red is a portrait of the real-life artist Mark Rothko, depicting his conversations with a young assistant called Ken after agreeing to create murals for the exclusive Four Seasons restaurant.
Ken - who represents a new generation of artists - questions Rothko on his motives for taking on the project, highlighting powerful themes relating to the relationship between art and commerce.
The play was written by John Logan - also known for his screenplays for acclaimed movies such as Gladiator, The Aviator and Hugo - and won the 2010 Tony Award for best play.
Hong Kong Repertory Theatre's version of Red - which has been translated into Cantonese - will be performed at 19:45 local time on July 6th to 8th and July 10th to 15th, with matinees at 14:45 on July 8th and 15th.
Tickets range in price between HK$130 and HK$260 (GBP10.70 and GBP21.40).
