Covington Who's Who Selects Susan Yoder as an Executive Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

    HOLLYWOOD, FL, June 24, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Susan Yoder, Executive Director for Lee County Housing Authority, has been selected as an Executive Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Susan Yoder's commitment to excellence in Government and Low Income Housing.

Yoder, who studied at both Memphis State University and Jonesboro College, began working for the housing authority in 1976 as a secretary, a position that she maintained for three years. From there she held the title of deputy director, and is currently serving as their executive director since 1997.

Currently overseeing the daily office routine, Yoder is responsible for all reports to HUD, working up the tenant files, paying landlords housing assistance payments, overseeing the waiting list, opening and closing the list, payroll, quarterly reports, getting 1099 forms to landlords at the end of each year, terminating tenants and landlords when necessary, among a host of other duties.

Yoder is certified in Section 8 rent calculation, eligibility for public housing and Section 8 for HUD programs, Section 8 occupancy and Family Self-Sufficiency for HUD programs.

"The job opportunity and the need for housing assistance are great in Lee County," Yoder explained. "This program helps families have safe and decent housing."

Hoping to continue to help as many families as possible through their Family Self Sufficiency program, Yoder continues to make a difference in her community. She said one of the biggest rewards is seeing families go from the Section 8 program into homeownership.

Yoder is an active member of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. She is a volunteer with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and enjoys gardening, travelling and making flower beds in her spare time.
