Dunedin Orthodontist Celebrates 20th Anniversary in Practice

    DUNEDIN, FL, June 29, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Spring Hill orthodontics specialist Dr. Albert Fontaine celebrates his 20th year in private practice in July.

Fontaine, an Invisalign provider who also provides underbite correction, purchased his practice in Dunedin from his father-in-law, Dr. J. Ellis Rue, in July 1992. He built an office in Spring Hill that same month.

The decision to build the Spring Hill office was due to the area's rapid growth at the time and dearth of orthodontists in the area.

"We viewed this move as a good one for us and for residents who were in need of convenient orthodontic treatment," Fontaine said.

Fontaine knew early on that we wanted to be an orthodontist. His childhood best friend's dad was an orthodontist, and that is what initially created the interest, he said. Fontaine completed a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Florida before being accepted into UF's College of Dentistry program.

Instead of entering an orthodontic residency immediately thereafter, Fontaine went into private practice as a general dentist for four years- a decision that he said benefits his children and adult braces patients.

"This created a great opportunity to decide what I truly wanted to do," Fontaine said. "Selecting this field initially presented another perspective on dentistry and orthodontics. I have more general dentistry knowledge now than if I'd gone straight into the orthodontic field after graduating dental school."

While someone else sparked Fontaine's interest in the orthodontic field, his father-in-law fanned the flame. Rue sent his daughter Melissa and Fontaine on a blind date. It was a great match, because the couple celebrates their 25th anniversary this year.

After finishing his orthodontic residency at Philadelphia's Albert Einstein Medical Center, he purchased Rue's practice.

"Looking back, my father-in-law was a successful planner," said Brooksville Orthodontist, Fontaine. "He got his daughter married off and sold his practice to the same guy."
