Mr. Visser has a strong background in education. In 1958, he received a diploma in B.M. marine engineering from De Ruyter School at the Royal Dutch Marine Academy in Holland. He then received a diploma with a concentration in marine engineering, electrical engineering, fuels, steam boilers, steam engines, turbines, internal combustion engines, auxiliaries, marine law, first aid and engineering drawing from the Royal Dutch Commission in 1963. From 1964 to 1968, he studied part time for a diploma in mechanical engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. After obtaining his BM marine engineering diploma and working as a marine engineer on a ship that transported frozen meats across the sea, he became fascinated with refrigeration. A professional distinguished by his honesty, Mr. Visser brings 50 years of experience in refrigeration system engineering to his position as principal for KAV Consulting, a mechanical and industrial engineering firm that provides design consulting and management of industrial refrigeration systems. In his position, he utilizes his expertise in food preservation and Occupational Safety and Health to design safe and efficient ammonia and carbon dioxide refrigeration plants, equipment and systems. He also provides design and management services on cold storage design and operations, and conducts energy audits of facilities producing refrigerated foods as well as cold stores. He also contracts and performs as a public speaker on mechanical refrigeration systems. He works to eliminate the Ozone Depletion Potential and the Global Warming Potential (GWP) associated with the CFC and HCFC chemical refrigerants, and GWP of HFC refrigerants by switching to natural refrigerants like Ammonia, Carbon Dioxide and Hydro Carbons.
Furthermore, he has been working on projects for AMH, BUNGE, Iowa Beef Processors, Inghams, Conagra, McCain Foods, Pillsbury and Nestle. For the past 11 years, Mr. Visser has provided exceptional services as a well informed, independent advisor. Looking ahead, he intends to continue working with other like-minded professionals around the world and educating people through public speaking on better and more efficient ways to refrigerate and cool buildings.
In addition to his work with mechanical refrigeration systems, Mr. Visser wrote "The Energy Efficiency in Washington D.C. Office Buildings and Hospitals when Using Total Energy Ammonia and CO2 Systems for Heating and Cooling" and has presented this at the annual conference for the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration in Milwaukee, WI in March 2012. This will be his fourth time presenting this topic in the United States. Distinguished in his profession, he received the James Harrison Medal in 1997, the TS Mort Award in 1999 along with a Certificate of Merit from the National Energy Management Awards in 1984. He maintains his professionalism through his honorary membership at IIR-Paris and membership of ARA-Australia of which he is founding board member, IOR-UK, Eurammon-Germany and KNVVK-The Netherlands. He is also an affiliate member of the CIBSE-UK.
When he is away from the office, Mr. Visser enjoys playing golf, fly fishing, reading and spending time with his wife and children.
