Peter Quinn Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Astronomy

    CRAWLEY, WA, AUSTRALIA, July 12, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Peter Quinn, Director of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in astronomy.

With 29 years of professional experience, Prof. Quinn is a skilled researcher with expertise in astronomy and computation. He brings his experience and skills to his role as director of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR), a collaborative center of Curtin University and The University of Western Australia, devoted to research in astronomical science and engineering. Located in Perth, Western Australia, the institute has grown steadily since its launch in September 2009. Prof. Quinn is responsible for directing the center and ensuring that it makes a major contribution to astronomical research and the international Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project. He considers his success to be a result of his passion for science.

In 1978, Prof. Quinn earned a Bachelor of Science in physics from the University of Wollongong. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in Astronomy from the Australian National University and complete postdoctoral appointments with the ANU, NASA and the California Institute of Technology. Prof. Quinn is a fellow of the Astronomical Society of Australia. Looking toward the future, he intends to focus on building ICRAR into a leading international research centre.
