CORK, IRELAND, July 16, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Blue Steel Acquisitions, a growing sales and marketing company in Ireland, discovered that regularly seeking advice and direction from both business mentors and a personal development coach has helped the Managing Director to make the right business decisions to ensure that the company continues to thrive and grow amid tough economic times. Figures from the Governments Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative suggest that 70% of small businesses that receive mentoring survive for five years or more, which is double the rate compared with non-mentored entrepreneurs. Businesses that receive mentoring are also 20% more likely to experience growth than those who don't. Blue Steel Acquisitions attributes their success over the last year to the invaluable advice they received from business mentors, which helped them to grow quickly in a short period of time, opening offices in both Cork and Kerry.
Despite these findings, Blue Steel Acquisitions is concerned that many business owners are overlooking the benefits of seeking advice from a business mentor. In a survey conducted by accountants Moore and Smalley, "more than two fifths (42%) of those running owner-managed businesses have never used the services of a personal business mentor or coach". Blue Steel Acquisitions believes that this is a mistake. Managing Director, Sarah Bennett, says "The advice that I have received from both business mentors and my personal development coach has been invaluable for helping me make tough business decisions, and has also kept Blue Steel Acquisitions ahead of their competitors in terms of sales standards and growth. The advice of mentors has also given me support and helped to maintain my own motivation during challenging times, and it has definitely helped me to achieve both my personal and business goals."
Blue Steel Acquisitions reveal that Judith Dugale, corporate services director at Moore and Smalley, also advocates the use of mentors in business. Judith outlines the benefits of using a mentor, saying "When running a business, owners can use a business mentor to bounce ideas off, to point them in the right direction, to help focus on the most important issues, to be a confidential sounding board, and to be able to work 'on' not just 'in' the business". Blue Steel Acquisitions believes that in order to improve their business and be successful all business owners should enlist in the help of a mentor.
Judith Dugale states "Whether it's paid for mentoring advice, free advice provided by a business support organisation, employing a non-executive director, or even consulting a wise business head that gives up their time for free, having some form of mentoring can make a real impact to a business". Whichever method they chose, Blue Steel Acquisitions believes that once business owners find a mentor that they respect and look up to and begin following their advice, they will start to see the benefits of mentoring immediately.
