She received a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Zoology, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in French, from the University of Cape Town, where in due course she also earned a Ph.D. in Environmental and Geographical Sciences. Dr. Henderson is a member of the South African Institute of Ecology and Environmental Scientists.
