WHITEHOUSE, NJ, August 18, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gentell, Inc. (www.gentell.com), a leading manufacturer of wound and skin care products, has announced the release of Fastcare 2.0, its powerful Wound Documentation System for Gentell partners.
"Fastcare 2.0 enables our business partners to do two things," says Gentell founder and Executive Vice President, David Navazio, "First, to better document and track wound progress, and second, to prescribe and order wound-healing products at the bedside."
Fastcare 2.0 is Gentell's free online wound care service for nursing homes, clinics, hospitals and wound care centers. The system works with Motorola Xoom tablet computers equipped with Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G that securely transmit data to a Fastcare server. Since data is immediately transmitted from the tablet, the facility is never in danger of compromising privacy or losing data through the loss of the tablet.
Fastcare 2.0 stores data on a secure Fastcare server where clinicians can access records and generate wound reports. New to Fastcare 2.0 is the ability to chart the progress of a wound through the Pressure Ulcer Scale for Healing (PUSH) score. Fastcare 2.0 also generates facility-wide reports that help healthcare organizations ensure compliance with treatment regulations.
Medical personnel can choose over 50 wound care products at the tap of a button and add special-order wound care products as needed. Fastcare 2.0 provides choices for both primary and secondary coverings, plus a frequency of change and certification period for both.
Fastcare 2.0 keeps track of these attributes for each wound: location, type, thickness/stage, length, width, depth, tunneling, tunneling depth, tunneling direction, undermining, undermining depth, undermining direction, drainage amount, drainage type, debridement type, debridement date, infection, odor, pain level during treatment, topical medication ordered, topical medication name, topical medication frequency, physician's verbal order, whether wound was acquired in the facility or prior to admission, and general comments.
Fastcare 2.0 can also capture wound photos and store wound histories. Navazio notes, "Administrators are now telling us that their lawyers are demanding wound images. A year ago, some lawyers prohibited photos, but they have been defenseless against camera-phone photos taken to disparage legitimate treatments. Fastcare 2.0's medical imaging reflects the original wound and the progress of treatment, and will be a real help to our customers' legal teams."
Gentell customers can access Fastcare 2.0 for their Part A and Part B business at no additional charge.
Fastcare 2.0 for Wound Care is a joint venture of Gentell, Inc. and Textler, a software company that develops medical and wireless applications.
About Gentell
Gentell wound and skin care products help heal and prevent wounds in nursing homes, hospitals, wound care centers and, through home health care providers, in patients' homes. Gentell customers share three common problems: 1. Lingering, undocumented outcomes, 2. Confusion caused by the thousands of wound care products being offered and the plethora of new technologies, and 3. Increased costs as Medicare benefits are cut, corporations reduce staff and health care organizations look to reduce costs while improving or maintaining their level of patient care. The Gentell Wound Advisor, Gentell Fastcare Wound Documentation System, and other Gentell products and services help solve these problems by providing electronic documentation, quick access to information and reduced costs. The best way to heal a wound is to address it quickly and to pay attention to it. Gentell's tagline is, "We make it better." We heal wounds, and we make better wound-healing products.
