The WorkBoat Industry Size of Fleet Report
To create the new report, the WorkBoat research team had multiple discussions over the past year with officials from the U.S. Coast Guard, the Corps of Engineers and other federal agencies, industry associations and scores of cities, counties and states, as well as commercial vessel owners and operators. The result is a comprehensive report that includes traditional workboat categories such as tugs, towboats and pushboats, offshore service vessels, patrol boats and barges.

Just as WorkBoat's Annual Construction Survey does not include every U.S. workboat construction yard and every delivered or contracted vessel in the U.S., the WorkBoat Size of Fleet Report does not claim to provide the definitive total number of workboats in the U.S. "After over a year of research, we have come up with a U.S. workboat report that is by no means 100 percent inclusive, but it is one that no one else can match," Krapf said. "We have gathered and verified thousands of pieces of data and distilled the results down to a single report that can be used as an asset and reference tool for the industry."
