NORTH RYDE, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA, August 31, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tonina Harvey AM, General Manager of Community Services for ParaQuad NSW, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in health and disability management.

Highly-regarded as an expert in drug and alcohol service delivery and management of disability services, Ms. Harvey is an exceptional health care professional. She possesses admirable skills in areas such as financial management, strategic planning, business implementation, partnership development, policy implementation, community consultation, and project and human resource management. Such qualities led to her previous appointments as Director of Auburn Community Health Service in Western Sydney and as the Area Director of Drug and Alcohol Services for Northern Sydney Central Coast Health.

Currently, Ms. Harvey is the accomplished General Manager of Community Services for ParaQuad NSW. This not-for-profit member-based health care provider strives to assist people with spinal cord injuries (SCI). Since 1961, it has provided exemplary care, support and clinical services to indiviuals with SCI and their families. Knowing the difficulties that people with this injury face, such as finding new living accomodations, getting out of bed, showering and toileting, the charity helps people overcome these problems as well as social issues by supporting them throughout their lives. In her position on the Leadership Team, Ms. Harvey oversees the daily operations of community services, meets with four senior managers and plans strategies for a wide range of services offered across New South Wales. With commendable management proficiency, she has successfully achieved six years of success with the company.

Ms. Harvey holds various certifications, which include a graduate certificate in management from the University of New England, and a psychiatric nursing and general nursing certificate from the NSW Nurses Registration Board Examinations. In 2010, Ms. Harvey was nominated by her peers to receive an Order of Australia (AM) for recognition of her contribution to developing and enhancing drug and alcohol nursing policy and practice in Australia.

Keeping current in her industry, Ms. Harvey is a consumer representative to NSW Health Agency of Clinical Innovation (Spinal Network) and is an appointed member of the NSW Health Enable Advisory Council. She also is an external reviewer for Quality Management Services, for which she was also a board member. Additionally, she is a life member and past vice president of the Drug & Alcohol Nurses of Australasia, and former member of the Australian Professional Society Alcohol & Drugs and the Centre for Drug & Alcohol. Aside from her professional life, Ms. Harvey enjoys singing, playing tennis and walking in her spare time.
