Prior to forming Fission Media, Mr. Dodd worked in the television and film production industry as an award-winning producer, director, writer and narrator. He has over four hundred TV programs to his credit in addition to multiple award winning documentaries produced for the BBC, NFB, Access TV, CBC and ITV (UK). Though he occasionally still does work in video production, Mr. Dodd's main focus over the last few years has been on mobile applications. His business experience as half owner and Executive Producer for Critical Fusion, a multimedia company, combined with his knowledge of the digital and film industries, now serve as the foundation for the development of new and exciting touch screen applications.
With more than three decades of experience, Mr. Dodd is well suited to oversee the media development and production services offered by his company. An innovative and creative individual, he personally works with other creative members of his staff to develop new concepts and apps, as well as plan media operations through video production, print functions and websites. He oversees all financial and staffing matters of the business, including strategic planning, business development strategies, marketing and the management of sales.
Attributing his success to his persistence and curiosity in the field of technology, Mr. Dodd became involved in his profession through a natural progression of opportunities. His educational background includes a diploma in broadcast communications, and he is a member of his local chamber of commerce and the Alberta Media Production Industries Association. He formerly held memberships with the Directors Guild of Canada and the South Edmonton Business Association. A four-time recipient of the Award for Documentary, Mr. Dodd has also been awarded a bronze medal at the New York Film Festival.
