Driven by an unwavering work ethic, Ms. Elkovich accrued a decade of experience in psychology and mental health, which she now contributes to A Higher Self, a consultancy that specializes in authentic leadership. The company strives to create a better world by introducing people to the need to become better mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. As managing director, Ms. Elkovich manages all aspects of operations for her company and spends a considerable amount of time customizing programs to initiate a process of self discovery within individual leaders and their teams. Utilizing innovation and tailored programs, she identifies individual needs, observes clients and their teams in action, and assesses congruence and incongruence between what is observed and what the client is trying to achieve. She then provides feedback, which may address unidentified issues, and then custom-designs workshops that are educational and experiential to assist the customer. Ms. Elkovich believes that better individual health helps leaders develop greater self awareness, personal honesty and responsibility. Prior to her consulting career, Ms. Elkovich worked within the corporate health sector for 15 years. Her career moved between the pharmaceutical and surgical device markets. She held many roles; her last role was director of business development for a global pharmaceutical company. Eventually, she built a solid respect for an understanding of vision, strategy, marketing and sales. After working for so many years in senior business executive roles, she saw that she could make a difference on the outside. Her decision to become involved in consulting derives from a personal experience with a psychologist from a global consulting firm, who provided her with the results for a number of psychometric tests she needed to take prior to employment. Based on the results, he told her that there was no way the company would employ her. He said, "Kim, the results show that you are not one to climb over dead bodies to get your way to the top. And secondly, on the scale of conformity versus non-conformity, you are kind of out there for non-conformity." Although she did not get employed, Ms. Elkovich takes pride in those test results because they reflect who she truly is: a woman who refuses to sacrifice her humanity and values for the sake of money or to belong to a group. Forming her own consulting company enabled her to have the freedom to be herself. Having achieved years of success in both the corporate health and consulting sectors, Ms. Elkovich credits her determination, courage, resilience and willingness to grow. Looking ahead, she hopes to complete her doctorate and share her findings through writing and speaking opportunities. She will continue to teach students, which she loves, and offer clinical work in grieving, anxiety and depression.

Ms. Elkovich holds a master's degree in psychology and is pursuing a Ph.D. With a degree in applied science, she is also a registered nurse, Gestalt psychotherapist and a holistic counselor. Maintaining her professionalism and keeping current in her industry, she is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Australian Institute of Management, the Australian Psychological Association, the APHRA and the Royal Australian College of Nursing. When her schedule permits, she spends her free time travelling, exercising, meditating and with friends and family.
