After completing a bachelor's degree at St. John's University, Margaret K. Mazzola embarked on a career in health care services. Her career began at State Island University Hospital, where she served as a case manager from 1995 through 1997. Recognized for her dedication and ambition, Ms. Mazzola was promoted to a position as administrative assistant to the emergency department director at the same hospital. In 2001, her accomplishments prompted the management team to promote her once again to administrative associate at the hospital. In her new position, Ms. Mazzola collaborated with the chief medical officer and chief of staff to achieve the strategic objects of the hospital. Her responsibilities included managing projects, interacting with physicians, and monitoring policy and compliance standards, as well as participating in grant applications and renewals.
Drawing on her educational background, which includes a Master of Public Administration, with a concentration in health care management, from Long Island University, Ms. Mazzola has become an expert in project and emergency management. After nearly 20 years of experience in public administration, she has since retired from her chosen field and become an active volunteer in her community. She regularly volunteers with Teach Reading to Youth, Incorporated, State Island University Auxiliary, Project Hospitality, and Big Brother and Big Sister of America, NY. Honored with the 15 year employment pin and certificate of appreciation award from Staten Island University Hospital, Ms. Mazzola attributes her success to the support she receives from her mentors and love for her work.
