Worldwide Who's Who Names Andrew Mathers Professional of the Year in Jewelry Design

Andrew Mathers utilizes his creative side to make beautiful and unique pieces of jewelry

AUSTRALIA, October 25, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Andrew Mathers, Jewelry Designer for Andrew Mathers, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Jewelry Design. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

After completing a four-year apprenticeship Andrew graduated with a Certificate in Architectural Drafting from Sydney Technical College. Upon the completion of his studies he realized he wanted to pursue further studies to explore a more artistic side. Enrolling in Charles Sturt University Andrew chose the major in Visual Arts, trying several different mediums. Andrew finally decided on jewellery making. He graduated after three years with a B.A. degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing. Andrew was the recipient of the Graduate Metal 2 award, given out to the top graduate of all jewellery courses within Australia during his final year.

For the past 26 years, he has worked as a jewellery designer, making and designing jewellery for consignment shops, exhibitions and galleries. He prides himself on creating jewelry around the element of design rather than for purposes of mass production and has sold his work in exhibitions and galleries around the world, both in national and private collections. Andrew believes the highlight of his career was representing Australia in an exhibition in Paris in 1989 and 1990.

Andrew's designs have a variety of influences from many cultures and artistic movements. Early pieces have a strong architectural influence. Other influences include medieval, tribal and cave art, the most recently being balance and movement.

Andrew currently works full time for Conservation Australia as a team leader. This is a role which has given Andrew the opportunity to learn and develop a whole new range of skills and abilities. His environmental work has taken him all over Australia, Alaska, California and recently New Zealand. Andrew uses this as an opportunity to explore new cultures, looking for inspiration for new pieces of jewellery.

He attributes his success to his individuality of work, design skills, originality, and faith in personal creation.
