/24-7PressRelease/ - POINT CLEAR, AL, July 22, 2007 - The Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club and Spa has earned the 2007 Gold Tee Award for Excellence in Golf and Meeting Facilities from Meetings & Conventions magazine, and has been recognized by Fox News and Brides magazine. The Alabama resort, recently reopened after a $50 million post-Katrina renovation, has also received accolades from Fox News, and recognition from Brides magazine as #2 in the Top 21 Romantic Places for "I Do."

2007 marked the 17th year that Meetings & Conventions magazine has acknowledged the finest of the world's golf and meeting properties with the Gold Tee Award. Properties awarded this honor have first-class golf courses and facilities that display the most distinguished beauty, condition, and playing difficulty. Properties are also measured by the number of courses offered, staff assistance in tournaments, the quality of food and beverage service, and the overall experience of meetings held at the property, including golf amenities.

"We are delighted to have received the Gold Tee Award as our meeting team and professional golf staff work very hard in maintaining the highest quality golf offerings in Alabama," said Kevin Hellmich, vice president of sales. "Our two on-site courses offer extensive challenges and, paired with our service, qualifies our Alabama resort as the best of the best."

The Point Clear resort was also lauded recently by Fox News as #1 in the article, "Five Great Summer Vacations that Don't Cost a Bundle." Fox recommended going for a "dose of Southern charm," by fishing from the pier with ready-baited bamboo poles, playing croquet, hitting the famous Robert Trent Jones Trail, or biking to the Civil War cemetery. Fox also named the Alabama beach hotel as ideal for families with its sparkling pool with waterslide, and miles of pristine beachfront.

In addition, the Alabama wedding site was named by Brides magazine as #2 in the Top 21 Romantic Places for "I Do."

"The Grand Hotel has a private garden for two, adjacent to the chef's herb garden, offering picturesque views of the sunsets on Mobile Bay and the resort's majestic oak trees," the magazine's writer said. "Whether proposing of simply proclaiming your love, this romantic setting offers customized cuisine planned just for the two of you. The Grand's executive chef will customize a menu using the freshest seafood and other ingredients, making the meal as unique as your love."
