Handcrafted each day, Sugar Skull's diverse offerings include items such as cupcakes, scones, cookies, and other baked goods, but with a special twist. Whether it's beer in the cupcakes or bacon in the cookies, the surprising and unusual collides with the everyday in the Oliver's treehouse home, recently featured on HGTV's "Home Strange Home." The business is currently looking to expand into a commercial kitchen space, to allow for shipping products, Internet orders, event catering, and new product development, including home-brewed soda, ice cream, artisan breads, soups, and a fair trade organic coffee bar.
In the past year, this local favorite has gained a solid reputation and loyal following for their unique flavors combinations, which led to the start-up of a Kickstarter campaign to raise $20,000 in funds to open commercially.
"It all started with a desire to make fun-flavored baked goods while being committed to local sustainability. In our first year we have grown at a much more rapid pace than we ever expected," said Charlie Oliver, owner. "We have outgrown our kitchen space and need to move into a bigger commercial facility. The money from this campaign will allow us to do that and more."
