New Technology Impacts Operational Efficiency and ROI for Radiology

    OREM, UT, November 13, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Initial research into Intelerad's InteleOne radiologist workflow solution reveals that it delivers organizational and efficiency benefits that result in a good to excellent ROI for the majority of customers. This finding, among others, was recently released in a new KLAS report entitled "Intelerad InteleOne: A KLAS Innovation Review."

This tip-of-the-spear report, which provides initial data on market innovations, includes the voice of 22 providers at 13 out of the 15 live sites using Intelerad InteleOne. As providers look for pioneering technologies to help with the workflow challenges of running disparate image management solutions, Intelerad's InteleOne has come forward as a solution to help radiologists manage their workflow.

Because of workflow improvements and remote access capabilities, 71 percent of customers say they have seen good or excellent ROI. The increased speed of deliverables also helped 81 percent of InteleOne customers improve relationships with their clients.

Nearly 50 percent of interviewed providers say that increased efficiency is the number-one benefit of working with InteleOne. Efficiency gains are in large part due to the technology's enterprise worklist and intuitive user interface.

"Our radiologists love having the single worklist," one chief technology officer told KLAS. "Before, they were jumping from PACS to PACS to PACS. As we bring more hospitals on, the radiologists are gaining more efficiencies and relative value units in production by not having to go back and forth. Also, everybody is now on a single voice recognition platform. And we have reduced our costs, so there is a financial benefit to going with InteleOne."

However, the system is not without challenges. The IT knowledge and expertise required to set up and maintain the system may not be a fit for all facilities. Those without IT resources or know-how confide that they had a difficult time getting interfaces set up themselves, and a couple had to spend money contracting that work out, which was an unexpected cost.

When selecting InteleOne, some providers had considered other options before making their final decision to move forward with InteleOne. Fuji was the competitor most often assessed. Agfa, Philips, and Merge were also looked at--but by only 2 providers each. While some of these vendors offer similar technology to InteleOne, none currently have a large enough customer base to be included in the research.
