ORLANDO, FL, November 20, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today's world is a fast-moving one. Most people are too busy to prepare their own food thus they settle for fast food, which unfortunately is very unhealthy. It would have been good if people exerted effort to stay fit and eat healthy, but most people unfortunately do not realize how important that is for them. Thus, they are unable to achieve fitness and health, and that is the reason sickness is so rampant in today's society.
It is not really difficult to achieve that, however. All you really need to do is find a trainer that you can trust and you're good to go! Age is not even a factor, because in Hickory Glen, you can find senior citizens actively pursuing a healthy lifestyle thanks to Jill Canaday and Rick Schlemm.
Rick Schlemm is a National Academy of Sports Medicine-certified Personal Trainer. He primarily gives home training to his clients, but Schlemm has committed himself to Hickory Glen, Illinois, every Wednesday afternoon to coach people in their fitness routines. The funny thing is that Schlemm was only supposed to visit Hickory Glen one day to instruct people in the use of their fitness machines, but the residents and him had gotten well with each other that Schlemm had decided to commit one hour every Wednesday to give a class to the residents of Hickory Glen.
On the other hand, Jill Canaday is the community manager of Hickory Glen. She was responsible for revamping the fitness room of the community to a full-fledged fitness center. In February, she introduced new fitness equipment that the residents of Hickory Glen could use: two recumbent ellipticals, one treadmill, one recumbent bike, one Airdyne bike, a resistance machine, pedometers, medicine balls, stretchy bands and low-weight dumbbells. By adding Rick Schlemm to the equation, she had given the residents a good fitness program that ensures everybody is on the right track.
Currently, there are at most fifteen people who regularly attend Schlemm's lessons every Wednesday. Unlike most fitness programs, Schlemm focuses on health fundamentals. Because some of his students are seniors who have special needs, he usually teaches on topics like hydration, mobility or stabilization. Schlemm creates his training based on the needs of the residents, making it easy for the seniors to do what they usually have difficulty in doing like pushing grocery carts and reaching up to take items from high shelves.
What makes Schlemm endearing to the residents' hearts is his willingness to push them but with patience. According to one resident, a 91-year-old senior, Schlemm's instructions and patience inspires her to do more exercises despite her advanced age. She also said that Schlemm is particular about his clients' body parts and their limitations, and that he is very "encouraging."
If seniors could push themselves to become healthy at their advanced ages, then you who is at your prime can certainly find no excuse not to do the same. It is quite simple to exercise, all you really need to do is to find the time to do it with a fitness center or trainer that you can trust.
