After recording, the app sends off the recording to the other player to Listen Up! and guess. The player's mission is to record sound bites that describe words and challenge friends to guess the words. Starting a new game is easy. Players simply invite their Facebook friends to play, search out specific Listen Up! gamertags and email contacts to connect with, or find a random opponent to go head to head with! The next step is to pick an Easy, Medium, or Hard word and record an audio clip, making whichever sounds or phrases believed best to describe that word. The only real rule is not to mention the actual word itself.

Listen Up! has a unique "mic" point system that rewards players based on the degree of difficulty of the word. The harder the word, the more "mic" points to be earned. "Mic" points can then be used to unlock funny visual hints to help guess the word. Convenient audio recording options are available giving players the power to record, review, and re-record their audio clues effectively. The game gives players the ability to view hints to help solve incoming audio clips, a "Pass" option if they give up but want to keep playing, and a unique "Susie Soundmaster" feature that lets players nominate awesomely epic sound bites possibly to win weekly and monthly prizes.
