/24-7PressRelease.com/ - February 10, 2005 - Music on commercials can be classic, romantic, jazzy, or rocking, but the score on new radio spots for National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. (NASSCO) is in the genre sometimes called heavy-metal or even speed-metal.
"Hard-rocking music is a fitting choice for a company like NASSCO," stated composer The G-Man. "Their shipyard is an impressive manufacturing site, with a lot of raw power."
After touring the massive facility, G said, "First, you're in awe of the size of one of the Navy ships they're building, then you turn around and see a double-hull oil tanker they're building for British Petroleum, and you realize you're standing in the shadow of one of humanity's biggest creations. I wanted their commercial music to have that kind of scope and muscle."
Scott G founded G-Man Music and Radical Radio, where he produces award-winning radio commercials and composes music for radio and TV spots. His songs have been called "Moby meets Bowie" by producer Pete Anderson, "Moby meets Devo" by TV producer Paul Rich, and "The rhythm of machines with melodies of the heart" by music writer Janis Amy.
He has four albums on Delvian Records: "Grin Groove" (2002), "Electro Bop" (2003), "Platinum Age of the Remix" (2004), and "Sonic Tonic" (coming March 1, 2005).
Mr. G is a member of NARAS (the Grammy organization), a creative director of the National Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP) and writes about music for many organizations, including MusicDish.com and the Immedia Wire Service. The G-Man's songs are on iTunes, www.digipie.com, www.96decibels.com, P2P sites, and http://www.delvianrecords.com, while his commercials may be heard at http://www.gmanmusic.com.
National Steel and Shipbuilding, a General Dynamics company, has been designing and building ships since 1960, specializing in auxiliary and support ships for the U.S. Navy and oil tankers and dry cargo carriers for commercial markets. Located in San Diego and employing more than 4,000 people, NASSCO is the only major ship construction yard on the West Coast.
"I was proud to do the voiceovers for NASSCO," G stated, "because what they do is so important. And as a musician, it was an absolute joy to create a music track that is as relentless and as dynamic as anything on my albums," G added.
