/24-7PressRelease/ - NORTH CHARLESTON, SC, September 09, 2007 - It was sink or swim for Brian Anthony when he discovered he owed the IRS $95,000.
Luckily for Anthony, JK Harris & Company was there to throw him a life preserver and help pull him out of what seemed to be treacherous seas.
The former owner-operator of a boating and deep-sea fishing business found himself in trouble when he did not meet his Estimated Tax Payment requirements.
Estimated tax is used to pay income tax and self-employment tax, as well as other taxes and amounts reported on your tax return. If a taxpayer does not pay enough through withholding or quarterly estimated tax payments, the taxpayer may be charged a penalty.
After trying to resolve the situation himself with no luck, Anthony heard an ad on the radio about JK Harris. Anthony said he called and set up an appointment and signed the contract on the first meeting.
And what the nation's largest tax resolution company did was help the Tavernier, FL, resident settle his debt with the IRS for just $9,402, saving him nearly $86,000. His JK Harris Case Specialist also advised him on how to meet the Estimated Tax Payment requirements should he ever own another business again.
An Offer in Compromise is an agreement between the IRS and taxpayer that allows the taxpayer's delinquent tax debt to be compromised for less than the amount owed. The offered dollar amount is based on the taxpayers net worth plus their future income potential, in other words, what the client is actually able to pay.
"JK Harris got the job done with no hassle or inconvenience," Anthony said.
Anthony's initial Offer of $340 was declined, but after negotiating with the IRS, JK Harris was able to get an offer of $9,402 accepted based on equity he had in a vehicle and a boat. Anthony agreed to the terms, and the Offer was accepted just seven months after the original was submitted to the IRS.
"We had a lot of back and forth phone calls and faxes to the Offer Examiner," said Anthony's JK Harris Case Specialist. "We presented a good case and lots of financial verification early on."
