WOODLAND HILLS, CA, February 25, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County and Jordan Hill of the Los Angeles Lakers, announced today they are joining forces for the 2013 'Race for the Cure' to impact the fight against breast cancer for women in the LA area. The 17th annual family friendly event will take place at Dodger Stadium on March 23, 2013 with their 5K, their Kids Fun Run and for the more serious runner the 10K Double Down. Jordan will be taking part in media opportunities to help spread the word, along with keeping his fans up to date through Twitter and Facebook. Jordan will also be starting his own team, TEAM HILL, at http://bit.ly/TeamHill, where fans can join him to 'Race for the Cure'.
Hill has a special place in his heart for the fight against breast cancer and helping bring awareness to his community. He lost his mother Carol to the disease when he was only three. By joining forces with Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County, Jordan hopes to raise awareness about breast health and breast cancer, empowering women to make informed choices about their health and welfare. Jordan hopes to inspire women to run for it, not from it.
"There is an urgency for women to become aware and educated about early detection," says Hill. "I am encouraging friends, family and fans to come out, join my team and walk or run with me to help provide mammograms for women in the Los Angeles community."
Mark Pilon, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen, Los Angeles County is thrilled to have Jordan as a member of the 'Race for the Cure' team this year. "We are honored to have Jordan partnering with us. With his help, dedication and passion, we can truly make a difference in the Los Angeles community, not to mention his inspiration to have fun, while making a difference."
Susan G. Komen is the only foundation that dedicates 75% of net proceeds to the community in which it was raised. The 'Race for the Cure' will raise money in support of our grants to community health partners, which provide mammograms and breast health services for women in need in our community.
