Types of Liposuction

Tumescent Liposuction

With tumescent liposuction, the surgeon injects a solution made of saline, a painkiller, and epinephrine into the fatty area to be treated before the fat is removed. The solution makes it easier for the surgeon to remove fat and eases the pain from surgery. It also helps to reduce blood loss.

A local anesthetic is also used in this procedure reducing the risks and complications from a general anesthetic. Tumescent liposuction is considered safer than liposuctions performed while a patient is unconscious.

Ultrasonic Lipoplasty

Ultrasonic Lipoplasty liquefies fat beneath the skin's surface with high-frequency sound waves. Then the liquefied fat can be suctioned out. This procedure allows surgeons to remove significant amounts of fat in one session. Patients benefit from ultrasonic lipoplasty because while the fat cells are selectively destroyed by the sound waves, the surrounding blood vessels and connective tissue are not damaged.

Liposuction is usually done as an outpatient procedure and can treat many of your problem areas, including abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, upper arms, neck or chin, and flanks.
