HOLLYWOOD, FL, March 27, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- William J. Daily, Research Chemist for Lonza, Inc., has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes William J. Daily's commitment to excellence in Chemical Manufacturing.
William J. Daily began his first permanent industrial chemistry position in 1993 at Genta, Inc., a biotechnology company in San Diego, California. He has been working in the field now for twenty years.
After completing his BS Degree in Chemistry at Whitworth University in 1984 William Daily went on to pursue his PhD in Organic Chemistry at Pennsylvania State University, earning his degree in 1991. He then held a postdoctoral research position at the University of California-Irvine from 1991-92 before landing an industrial postdoctoral position at Sandoz Pharmaceutical Corporation for about one year.
Now a research chemist with Lonza, Inc., William Daily's responsibilities are in the area of synthetic organic chemistry research related to the development of new chemical reagents and/or new potential therapeutic agents. These activities required him to be able to interact effectively with several departments within the organization, such as process development, manufacturing, quality control, and quality assurance.
Early on William Daily's deepest aspiration was to help people directly or indirectly by developing new therapeutic agents that would treat various diseases. But he moved away from drug discovery activities and into the areas of life sciences and the chemical industry. But his desire to help others never changed.
"I wanted to help people by improving the quality of life through the development of new and improved chemical reagents. Having an aptitude for analytical thinking, problem solving, and a strong desire to make a difference has also contributed to the success of my career," William Daily said.
With the hopes of continuing to make a difference in his current chemistry research and development profession, William Daily hopes to develop stronger management skills and move into a management position while continuing to play a consultative role in the technical scientific arena.
William Daily is a co-recipient of an R&D 100 Award from 2004, an award given during his time working at Promega Corporation.
