NORTH VANCOUVER, BC, April 14, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- TapSnap heralds a new trend in Los Angeles event entertainment -- the special event photo booth reinvented as an open-concept, high-tech phototainment system that is instantly connected to social media.
"In Los Angeles, there's a photo booth at almost every party, but those are the traditional photo booths," said Alex Gallner, a TapSnap representative for Los Angeles. "No one has done anything to update them until now. TapSnap is much more intriguing because it's completely open-concept and high-tech. Event planners say they've never seen anything like it."
Launched across the United States this April, TapSnap allows event guests to take their picture with a touch of the fingertip to the giant 42-inch multi-touch screen, and add digital props like funny hats or googly eyes. When they are done, they can share their creation instantly via social media networks and email, or print their photo to take home.
"People get really excited when they see TapSnap for the first time," said Gallner. "They say, 'Oh my gosh, what is it?' Then soon people are smiling and talking around the machine, and everyone is playing with pictures."
Gallner, 27, who lives in Hollywood, will run the business with his brother, Josh Gallner, 25.
"Movie premiers, industry parties, mansion parties - there are events here every day of the week. Hollywood loves getting its picture taken," he said.
TapSnap made its regional debut in February at a charity art auction hosted by former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist, Dave Navarro held at Lab Art. All proceeds went to Linda's Voice, an organization dedicated to putting an end to domestic violence.
Gallner also brought TapSnap to an art opening for the renowned artist Alec Monopoly's Park Place exhibition at Lab Art in March, which gave guests the opportunity to take their photo in front of one of Monopoly's painted cars.
Like many young people in L.A., Gallner is an aspiring actor. TapSnap gives him the freedom to pursue the profession while running his own business, because the schedule is flexible and many events are on evenings and weekends, leaving days free for those crucial auditions.
"So many people out here work as waiters and hate their day job. I don't have to be a starving artist. TapSnap lets me have fun while running a great business, and it will help me build connections in the industry while giving me the flexibility to pursue my dream," said Gallner.
Gallner, who also was a member of the local band, Some Hear Explosions, became involved with TapSnap because he works with its founding company DVDNow, helping its clients determine the best locations for their movie rental kiosks.
Gallner is a trailblazer, and was quick to become involved in TapSnap, which launched in the US in April this year. The invention of a Vancouver, Canada company, TapSnap is rapidly franchising across North America and is now operating in: Los Angeles, Calif.; Wichita, Kan.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Charlotte, N.C.; Cedar Knolls, N.J.(will cover NYC); Fremont, Ohio; Portland, Ore.; Philadelphia, Penn.; Charleston, S.C.; Houston, Texas; Park City, Utah; Lethbridge, AB; and Peterborough/Toronto, ON. A company-owned machine has been running since last summer in Vancouver, Canada where TapSnap is based, and franchises in 12 new markets will launch this month.
Scott McInnes, the CEO and Founder of TapSnap said: "Photography is the new entertainment. Everyone wants pictures to share on social media. TapSnap is great way for people to have massive amounts of fun while taking their photos. Quite simply, TapSnap makes a party fun."
