SAN FRANCISCO, CA, April 26, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- "Nina Jo Smith has written and recorded a seminal folk classic in 'Hey Songwriter'".
"This is what every songwriter feels when the song comes out of nowhere. Sure, we're none of us 'Dylan, Taylor & Prine', but we're fishing in the same stream, just downstream a bit. Produced by Martin Young, with Alan Thornhill on backup vocals, you'll get goose pimples if you've ever wondered where some songs come from." -Stephen Foster, "Stephen's Indie Picks"
Local singer-songwriter Nina Jo Smith released her debut full-length studio album People, following a successful Kickstarter campaign, Smith recorded People, Places and Sings which offers an eclectic mix of original songs spanning multiple genres including Americana, folk, and country. "Hey Songwriter" has already been picked up by 356 radio stations.
Nina Jo plays guitar and ukulele with clean, inventive picking. She sings in a voice that ranges from city smooth to mountain plain. When Nina Jo returned to performing twenty years after her brother's murder, she brought the focus and passion of a martial artist to her gentle music.
Produced by Martin Young, who has worked with notable artists such as Clint Black and Martina McBride, the album features Nina Jo on vocals, guitar and ukulele, as well as Alan Thornhill (guitar and vocals) and Young himself (acoustic and electric guitars, bass, Hammond B3, percussion and keyboards).
