Dorothy W. Schlimme Named a VIP Member of Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Adult Care

This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

Dorothy's Angel Haven is an adult care business that provides family homes for the mature population. Along with housing comes services such as a dietitician to help plan meals for the residents, companionship, medication management and daily living assistance. Dorothy's Angel Haven also plans birthday parties, recreational activities and celebrations in a small home setting. Amenities include private and semi-private rooms, laundry and housekeeping services, transportation and community involvement.

Ms. Schlimme has 16 years of experience in hotel management and hospitality, with 11 years as CEO of Dorothy's Angel Haven. Her areas of expertise include customer service, healthcare, team building, marketing and event planning. On a daily basis, Ms. Schlimme acts as a caregiver, handles marketing for the facility, coordinates activities and appointments, and communicates with medical practitioners. Prior to forming Dorothy's Angel Haven, Ms. Schlimme worked in accounting for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.

Highly involved in caregiving services, Ms. Schlimme co-authored a college management program that is being taught at five community colleges in the state of Washington. She became involved in her profession because her mother was a pastor. Her involvement in the church led to a career in serving and being a caregiver. Ms. Schlimme attributes her success to staying actively involved with the homes she operates and demonstrating a passion for her work.

Ms. Schlimme received a diploma in hotel management from Les Roches in Switzerland. She is affiliated with the Washington State Residential Care Council of Adult Family Homes and the National Federation of Independent Business. Outside of work, she serves as chair of the Long Term Care Ombudsman Council. In her free time, Ms. Schlimme volunteers for the Kent Senior Activity Center and the Auburn Senior Activity Center. In the coming years, she aspires to improve caregiving training standards and plans to open an assisted living facility.
