WASHINGTON, DC, May 16, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Laurie Miller, Senior Director of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in regulatory advocacy.
Ms. Miller, who has more than 13 years of experience in the regulatory advocacy field, has been senior director of the American Chemistry Council for the past two years. The American Chemistry Council, which is located in Washington, D.C., is a trade association that advocates for American chemical companies. Its mission is to deliver business value through exceptional advocacy, using best-in-class member performance, political engagement, communications and scientific research. In her current role with the association, Ms. Miller oversees a number of compliance issues, including managing regulatory and technical advocacy for the ACC's environment and process safety issues by interacting with government agencies such as the EPA and OSHA.
Prior to assuming her role at the American Chemistry Council, Ms. Miller worked as geologist for AECOM. Throughout her career, she has earned a reputation as a dedicated scientist who prides herself integrity and an ability to remain on an even keel.
Ms. Miller, who entered the advocacy field because of a recommendation from her previous supervisor, attributes her success to hard work. In the next five years, Ms. Miller would like to stay right where she is and continue working for the American Chemistry Council.
Ms. Miller holds a Master of Science degree in geochemistry and hydrogeology from Kent State University. An active member of her field, she belongs to the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Center for Chemical Process Safety, the National Fire Protection Association and the American Petroleum Institute. In her spare time, Ms. Miller enjoys reading, vintage cars and taking day trips with her husband and two huskies.
