GRENOBLE, FRANCE, May 24, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fabienne Balleriaud, Procurement, (P2P) Finance and Outsourcing Specialist at Rio Tinto, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Mineral Industry Finance. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.
Ms. Balleriaud has 16 years of experience in production management, with two years as a procurement, finance (P2P) and outsourcing specialist at the U.K.-based mining and mineral processing firm Rinto Tinto. Her areas of expertise include supplier contracting, accounts payable, shared services, lean management, supplier development and payment analysis. On a day-to-day basis, Ms. Balleriaud conceives and implements procurement strategies to reduce costs. In addition to formulating outsourcing strategies and consulting with clients, she handles financial matters. Ms. Balleriaud also coordinates activities between the company's central and regional purchasing offices and coordinates the leasing of mobile communications equipment to European site personnel.
Prior to moving into her current position in 2011, Ms. Balleriaud served Rio Tinto as supply chain director of the company's site operations in Fort Daupin, Madagascar, and purchasing managing for its department of health, safety and environment for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. From 2005 to 2008, she served as its head of procurement and was responsible for managing a 15-member staff, serving on a plant reorganization committee and coordinating a performance-based pilot program.
Ms. Balleriaud started her career with Rio Tinto in 2000 in the role of purchasing manager. Previously, she was employed with Schneider Electric's professional service division, for which she coordinated the purchasing of key production materials.
The keys to her success, says Ms. Balleriaud, have been her professional credibility and her willingness to listen to clients and managers. In the years to come, Ms. Balleriaud hopes to maintain her presence in the mining industry and transition into a leadership role with an international business unit or group.
Fluent in French and English, Ms. Balleriaud received a degree in management from ESCP Europe in 1997 and a degree in mechanical and production engineering from the University of Paris. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding and playing the cello.
Rio Tinto is a 140-year-old British and Australian mineral processing and mining corporation that extracts vital metals including iron ore, bauxite, aluminum, copper, gold and titanium from sites on six continents.
