An attorney since 1998, Ms. Murphy was once a Dallas County assistant district attorney, serving as a chief felony prosecutor and specialized trial prosecutor. In this role, she primarily worked in the area of domestic violence; she spent eight years taking action against individuals who hurt families. Her dedication in this role earned her the title of Prosecutor of the Year for Dallas County in 2005.
Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to the defense of families with a focus on children. Ms. Murphy has also served as a consultant on domestic violence for a documentary produced by the Lifetime Television Network. She has further consulted for the City of Dallas Domestic Violence Task Force and been active with the Texas Governor's Subcommittee on the Violence Against Women Act.
Today, she practices through the Murphy Law Firm, where she is most heavily involved in family law, specifically matters of divorce. However, she also works with child custody and visitations, adoption, child and spousal support, property division, and temporary orders, restraining orders and protective orders. Ms. Murphy also serves as a mediator and represents clients in court.
The Murphy Law Firm was presented with a San Antonio Finest Award in 2012 - a testament to Ms. Murphy's talents for her line of work. She is a lead author of various law enforcement curriculum and tests with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. She also serves this organization as a law lecturer and trial skills instructor. She is an Avvo-recognized attorney, and she has been honored with an outstanding criminal justice award by the Crime Victims Council of Dallas County in 2005. Ms. Murphy has also received a certificate of appreciation from the Craighead County Domestic Violence Task Force.
Ms. Murphy holds a JD from The University of Texas School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Texas Tech University. She belongs to the San Antonio Bar Association's Family Law Section, the American Bar Association, and the Texas Bar Association.
