Despite Challenges, MEDITECH 6.0 Customers Say They Are Not Going Anywhere

Affordability and improved usability outweighing performance

OREM, UT, May 30, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ninety-five percent of current MEDITECH 6.0 customers say that despite lower-than-expected performance, MEDITECH is part of their long-term plans. Version 6.0 customers enjoy improved usability but lose performance and integration when migrating from previous MEDITECH versions. These and other key findings are highlighted in the latest KLAS report, entitled MEDITECH 6.0: A Lot of Ground to Cover.

As part of the report, KLAS interviewed MEDITECH 6.0, MAGIC and C/S customers as well as customers of ten other EMR vendors. The report focuses on various aspects of 6.0's performance, including usability, efficiency and support. Additionally, the report listed advice from current users for other providers considering 6.0.

"Providers had high expectations for MEDITECH when they announced 6.0 and in many ways the current version disappoints," said report author Jon Christensen. "It is clear from provider responses that the reasons they went to 6.0 are not lining up with the realities when they get there. Overall, customers are optimistic that things will improve, and they expect MEDITECH to make up the ground they lost."

The report compared MEDITECH 6.0's performance to that of other EMRs, including those from Allscripts, Cerner, CPSI, Epic, Healthland Centriq, HMS, McKesson Paragon, MEDITECH C/S, MEDITECH MAGIC, Prognosis, RazorInsights, and Siemens Soarian.
