Catherine M. Angotti, RD, Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Health Care

    WASHINGTON, D.C., June 3, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Catherine M. Angotti, RD, Administrative Deputy to the Chief Health and Medical Officer and Director of Occupational Health for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in health care.

Ms. Angotti started her career in 1969 a The Fairfax Hospital as a therapeutic, clinical registered dietitian. By 1974, she became the first registered dietitian to successfully open and sustain a private practice. Holding 35 years of experience, she now serves as the administrative deputy to the chief health and medical officer and the director of occupational health for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). In this position for more than two decades, she is the first female to hold the title of director of occupational health longer than any of her predecessors.

Ms. Angotti provides nutrition education and awareness programs to assist employees in controlling risk factors associated with diseases such as diabetes, obesity and lipid disorders. Earning a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Nutrition from James Madison University, she has written a policy to put programs in place that will provide occupational and preventive health services in order to maintain and improve the health of NASA employees with a focus on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of illness and injuries caused or aggravated by the work environment.

Ms. Angotti is a member of VDA and the American Dietetic Association, and volunteers with a local dietetic association. As the years progress, she intends to continue to be an advocate for elder care.
