Dr. Jane C. Gilbert Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Psychiatry

    OAKVILLE, ON, CANADA, June 3, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Jane C. Gilbert, Emergency Psychiatrist for The Bear Clinic, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in psychiatry.

Dr. Jane C. Gilbert is known for her creative role in the development of visionary and innovative programs in the approach to mental health. She currently serves as an emergency psychiatrist for The Bear Clinic, which uses integrative psychiatry combined with conventional and alternative methods of psychiatric care in order to help individuals function at their optimal level. Along with the development of the emergency psychiatry position and a program which provides immediate access to a psychiatrist, she also runs an eating disorder clinic and is the head of a day progarm providing psychiatric care alternatives.

Dr. Gilbert earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and an MD from the University of Toronto. She also completed a residency in psychiatry. In addition to developing more collaborative and wholistic integrated approaches to mental health, she has worked to decrease the stigma within psychiatry. Proficient in emergency psychiatry, she treats acute care patients in the emergency room and manages an urgent care area for follow-ups. She also assists with treating those suffereing from depression. She attributes her success to being creative in developing new programs.

Dr. Gilbert maintains updated in the ever-changing field of health care through her affiliation with the Ontario Medical Association, The Canadian Psychiatric Association and the American Psychiatric Association. A six-time recipient of the Chief of the Department of Psychiatry Award by the Halton Healthcare Services, she also serves on the board of directors of the Canadian Mental Health Association, and on the board of professionals of the Ministry of Health Professional Body. As she continues to advance in her field, she hopes to develop an integrated approach to mental health through holistic and other effective methods. She would also like to start a clinic with a multidisciplinary team.
