THUNDERBOLT, GA, June 5, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jill Lepo-Wieniewitz, Science Program Coordinator, Lead Gifted Facilitator, and Lead Laboratory Instructor for the Marine Science Department at Thunderbold Elementary Marine Science Academy, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in marine science and environmental education.
Understanding the importance of a strong educational foundation, Ms. Lepo-Wieniewitz completed a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education at Armstrong Atlantic State University and a Master of Arts in curriculum and instructional development from Central Michigan University. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in teacher leadership at Walden University. Passionate about learning and teaching, Ms. Lepo-Wieniewitz has worked in the education industry for the past 27 years.
In 2005, Ms. Lepo-Wieniewitz joined Thunderbolt Elementary Marine Science Academy as their science program coordinator, lead gifted facilitator, and lead laboratory instructor for the Marine Science Department. The elementary school educated students in pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade and has more than 500 students. Focused on marine science, the school infused environmental education into its core academic curriculum. Throughout their marine science laboratory, students explore fresh and salt water aquariums and learn about environmental ecology. Striving for the educational institutions mission of academic excellence, Ms. Lepo-Wieniewitz builds powerful relationships with her students. She has led the marine science program since its inception and devotes time and energy into each student's academic progress. Ms. Lepo-Wieniewitz has played a strategic role in the development and implementation of the marine science program. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she also oversees funding for their budget. After partnering with Box Tops for Education, she was able to secure funding to add aquatic and terrestrial animals in the science laboratory.
Ms. Lepo-Wieniewitz is an expert in marine science, environmental ecology, and early childhood education. Proficient in learning style identification and differentiation, she teaches students to become knowledgeable and responsible with our Earth. Through development and refinement of integrated content curriculum, she focuses on marine science and environmental ecology through her teaching. Board certified as a teacher, early childhood generalist, and teacher support specialist, Ms. Lepo-Wieniewitz attributes her success to finding the combination which unlocks each child's potential for success.
Dedicated to the field of education, Ms. Lepo-Wieniewitz belongs to the Thunderbolt Parent-Teacher Association, Chatham County Association of Educators, Georgia Association of Marine Education, Georgia Science Teachers Association, and the National Education Association, among others. She is also charitably involved with Inner City Night Shelter, Incorporated, Mary's Home for Children, and United Way Worldwide. In her free time, Ms. Lepo-Wieniewitz devotes herself to reading, painting, and protecting sea turtle nests. She also enjoys spending time with her husband Mark and children Erin and Christopher.
