Dr. Emmanuel C. Pohl Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Investment Services

    GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA, June 6, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Emmanuel C. Pohl, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer of EC Pohl & Co., has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in investment services.

Dr. Pohl has 30 years of experience in the industry, with a year in his current role. His area of expertise is in managing investments and overall business operations.
Prior to leaving South Africa in 1994, he was the research head at Davis Borkum Hare (now Merrill Lynch), a member of the South African delegation to the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Bangkok and a member of the South African Accounting Practices Board. He took up the position of Private Portfolio Manager with Westpac Investment Management in Brisbane, which he held until 1996.

With the support of Wilson HTM Ltd, he established Hyperion Asset Management in 1996, where he served as the CEO, managing director and chairman of the Investment Committee. As the founder and initial portfolio manager, he was responsible for the outstanding performance of the investment portfolios, the growth from a standing start, as well as the management of the overall business. During his stewardship, Hyperion was highly regarded as a high conviction growth style manager that specialized in identifying and investing in quality Australian equities.

The highly respected Peter Lee Associates 2010 Annual Survey of Wholesale Funds in Australia ranked Hyperion first for Clear Investment Decision Making, Domestic Equity Investment Performance over the prior two years and ranked Hyperion equal first for Confidence in Future Investment Performance and Capability of Domestic Equity Professionals. Additionally, Hyperion was named Australian Equities (Small Cap) Fund Manager of the Year. This distinction followed a host of accolades earned by Hyperion including the 2010 Money Management/Lonsec Australian Equities (Small Cap) Fund Manager of the Year, the 2009 Best Performing Australian Boutique Fund Manager, and the 2010 Best Performing Large Cap Fund Manager.
In July 2012, he sold his stake in Hyperion Asset Management and founded the family office, EC Pohl & Co., to focus on managing equity portfolios for high net worth individuals in the listed and unlisted mid-market space.

He attributes his success to his disciplined approach to investing and became involved in his profession because he found researching companies and efficiently allocating capital very interesting.

Dr. Pohl received a doctorate degree in business administration from North-West University (1986). He was the Managing Director, Flagship Investments Limited; Director of Athelney Trust plc; Director of Global Masters Limited. He also served as a member of the President's Council of the Art Gallery of NSW; the former director of the Queensland Gas Company and a board member of several major corporations in South Africa and Australia. He belongs to the Australian Institute of company directors; FINSIA; SAA; He was the former director of the Mater Hospital Research Foundation, the La Boite Theatre Inc., and the Great Barrier Reef Research Foundation. He enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
