Lina Svedin is an assistant professor of political science at the University of Utah. She is Swedish by origin and has worked both as a practitioner in government, and as a researcher and training director at the Swedish National Center for Crisis Research and Training. Her research focuses on governance challenges in crises. Recent publications include "Organizational Cooperation in Crises," "Risk Regulation in the European Union and the United States," and "Ethics and Crisis Management." Her latest book, "Accountability in Crises and Public Trust in Governing Institutions," was published by Routledge in 2012. Dr. Svedin's current research projects include ethics in crisis communication, the response to the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami, and risk management in American public administration. Dr. Svedin teaches core courses on administrative theory, policy analysis, ethics for public administrators, governance and the economy, as well as crisis management and conflict resolution within the University of Utah's Masters of Public Administration and Master of Public Policy program. She is the book review co-editor for the journal "Public Integrity."
Dr. Svedin's research examines critical governing functions under adverse circumstances. She particularly focuses on ethical decision-making and actions, accountability, and organizational cooperation in crises, in an effort to strengthen public policy and support collaboration and trust in governing institutions.
