Dr. Susan Pulman is a registered psychologist with more than 25 years of experience. Starting her career as a corporate psychologist, she worked as a psychologist in the personal injury side before pursuing work in the area of forensic civil matters. It was while doing personal injury cases that she came across several individuals suffering from brain injuries. She felt that she did not have the necessary qualifications to make decisions on those sorts of injuries, so she went back to school and completed a master's degree in clinical neuropsychology at Macquarie University.

Dr. Pulman provides expert witness testimony in criminal, civil, family and childrens court in relation to brain functioning and parenting practices. She is often asked by the prosecution and by the defense to make a determination about whether or not an offender is fit to stand trial. Her company has set up a large research program to look at the assessment of offenders around their cognitive function, neuropsychologic function and how both relate to their fitness to stand trial. She is the only clinical neuropsychologist with forensic psychology and criminal law qualifications to provide this diverse service.

Dr. Pulman began working in the hospital system, where she combined her neuropsychology knowledge with her forensic psychology knowledge; it was a field in the criminal area where no one within New South Wales had both neuropsychology and forensic psychology experience. It was then that she identified a niche within Australia and decided to start her own business, offering these very services. She has spent the last 20 years as a clinical neuropsychologist and forensic psychologist for Dr. Susan Pulman & Associates. She attributes her success to being quite different than other neuropsychologists and forensic psychologists because she has a corporate background. She has worked in business and knows how to run a business and deal with clients; she also understands sales and marketing.

In 1999, Dr. Pulman earned a Ph.D., involving a 10-Year Longitudinal Study on Parenting Practices, Peer Influences, Child and Adolescent Self Esteem, from Macquarie University. She has extensive experience in conducting clinical neuropsychological assessments in NSW hospitals. She has expertise in child and adolescent development and previously held a position with the Children's Hospital at Westmead. She holds endorsements as a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Forensic Psychologist and has been working with the legal profession for 15 years. Although a qualified forensic psychologist, she embarked on further postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Law at the University of Sydney. She regularly conducts workshops for legal practitioners as a part of their continual professional development program.

Dr. Pulman is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, the Australian New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and the Law, and the Australian Society for Studies in Brain Injury. Looking forward, she plans to continue to grow her business and hire more staff.
