Covington Who's Who Selects Clayton W. Slocum as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

Slocum, Project Engineer for Cal Engineering & Geology, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Clayton W. Slocum's commitment to excellence in Engineering.

Clayton W. Slocum, who earned his Master's Degree from the University of California-Berkeley in 2010, first began working with his organization that same June, hiring him immediately after earning his graduate degree.

As a project engineer, Mr. Slocum is in charge of performing calculations, specifications, plans, and estimates for geotechnical related projects and presenting them to his principals for review before ultimately sending them to the client for use in the field. Reviewing historical information, preparing and chronicling engineering information for forensic analysis, performing on-site testing for quality assurance and quality control, drafting up plans for jobs, and performing laboratory testing are all in a day's work for Mr. Slocum, with no two days ever being the same.

"Until I began working at Cal Engineering & Geology, everything I had learned and done was theoretical and staged," Mr. Slocum said. "The senior and principal engineers have groomed me since day one of my professional career and have effectively showed me the means and methods that are applied in general practice, allowing me to thrive."

Having two loving, supporting parents as his biggest fans, Mr. Slocum has earned numerous achievements already, which include passing two milestone licensure tests: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and Professional Engineer (PE). He is now working to fulfill the requirements to qualify for the Geotechnical Engineer (GE) licensure. Notable, Mr. Slocum is a graduate of the highest ranked geotechnical engineering program in the world.

Mr. Slocum is very active in organizations in his field: two branches of the American Society of Civil Engineers; East Bay Municipal Engineer, where he currently serves as officer; Water Resources Group; Environmental and Water Resources Institute; California Geotechnical Engineering Association; South Bay Engineers; and American Concrete Institute.
