Bowens, Colonel, a senior military advisor for the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness and the Office of the Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Who's Who. Colonel Bowens is a graduate from the University of Akron, Ohio and, in 1986, was commissioned through the Air Force ROTC program as a distinguished graduate. She has held a variety of command positions at the squadron and wing levels, including serving as a director of personnel for a major command supporting a workforce of 102,000. She has an extensive HR background and currently provides advice on diversity management and equal opportunity practices. Now with 27 years of professional experience, she excels in strategic consulting. She attributes her success to her family, strong perseverance to excel in a high tempo environment, and always giving 100% in everything she touches. In the future, Colonel Bowens aspires to become a superintendent for a public school district. She wants to be able to affect change where it is needed, mentor and develop young men and women to be the best that they can be. Colonel Bowens received a master's degree in military operational art and science in 1999 from Air University and a master of science in administration in 1995 from Central Michigan University. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and a participant in the Air Force Cadet Officer Mentor Action Program. She is also affiliated with the Federal Employees Women's Organization, Senior Professional Women's Association and the National Association of Professional Women. In 1997 and 2002, Colonel Bowens was distinguished as a recipient of the Air Force-Level Personnel Award Winner of the Year and honored as one of the Most Influential in the 2nd Edition of "Who's Who" Black in Washington, D.C, 2010.
