Andrea C. Gibbs, Ph.D., PMP, Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Project Management

    MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO, CANADA, June 14, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Andrea Gibbs, Director of Planning and Special Projects for H.L. Blachford, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in project management.

H.L. Blachford is a manufacturer, distributor and highly engineered products designer for different industries. It specializes in chemical manufacturing, specialty chemicals and metal-working fluids. In her role, Dr. Gibbs provides strategic analysis and sets goals for six different divisions.

Dr. Gibbs has 14 years of experience in project management, with six years as director of special projects and planning for H.L. Blachford. In addition, she has been a certified project management professional for the last nine years. Her daily responsibilities include not only strategic planning, but business alignment. She is also familiar with research and development, product development, engineering management and team leadership. Prior to joining H.L. Blachford, Dr. Gibbs worked as a manager for QuestAir Technologies. Dr. Gibbs attributes her success to her organizational skills. She became involved in her profession because she was a chemist by training.

Dr. Gibbs was part of an expedition that cycled across the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco from the Sahara to the Atlantic unaided. As a woman travelling in Morocco, she was very frustrated by the place in society that women in cities had, however, in the rural areas, her group encountered the nomadic Berbers whose women hold an equal place in their society. More recently, she traveled to Nepal as part of an International team for Habitat for Humanity. In a small village, thirteen North Americans toiled alongside villagers to construct a house out of bamboo. The villagers found it hard to believe that Westerners would give up their vacation time to travel to a foreign country and help them build a dwelling place. Dr. Gibbs and her companions found it hard to fathom how they managed to survive with so little and were so thankful for 400sq ft of living space for a family of eight.

Dr. Gibbs received a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Bristol. She is also involved with the Project Management Institute. In her spare time, Dr. Gibbs enjoys outdoor activities such as cycling. She also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity International. In the years to come, Dr. Gibbs hopes to become the vice president of a division of the company.
