Future Collegians World Tour concluded their tournament season with an awards ceremony at the historic PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The PGA National championship course is ranked among the top 10 hardest courses played by PGA Tour professionals, thus making it exceptionally challenging tournament for youngsters in order to test their game and abilities. Each year the FCWT hosts a year end dinner and awards banquet to recognize the junior tour players and their families.
This year two Lee Westwood Golf School students received awards. Gary Daoust was awarded First Team All-American in the16-19 age division and the prestigious FCWT "Player of the Year" in the Eastern region. "The Boys 16-19 division First Team was especially strong this year, making the process of selecting a Player of the Year quite a challenge. The young men selected this season have demonstrated excellent consistency in their golf performance. Gary Daoust, our East Region "Player of the Year", had two wins and finished in the Top 10 in all 8 of his FCWT tournament appearances," said FCWT Staff. Connor Chesky was awarded Second Team All-American in the 13-15 age division. During 2012-2013 Chesky earned his first win at Falcons Fire and it was the very first win recorded by a student of the Lee Westwood Golf School-Orlando. The Lee Westwood Golf School-Orlando opened in 2012 thus making this an even more impressive achievement in that they are producing winners in their first year. Located in Apopka, Florida it is the first and only Lee Westwood Golf School in the USA, to add to Lee Westwood Golf School's other 3 locations in the UK.
"It is very gratifying to be able to contribute to the development of young golfers and help them fulfill their dream to play golf at the highest level," said Lee Westwood when he learned of the news.
Lee Westwood Golf School Director of Instruction, Bryan Van Der Riet, said, "What an amazing story and year it has been for our inaugural school year! We could not have asked for any better men and woman as students to start the growth of our school. We have youngsters that truly have the passion and desire to further develop their golfing and academic achievements. This is the first of many years to come with a combination of higher education and a program that is truly personalized and individualized to the student."
