Nicholas Vogelzang Named a VIP Member of Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Healthcare

    LAS VEGAS, June 20, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nicholas Vogelzang, Executive Medical Director, U.S. Oncology Research at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

Dr. Vogelzang knows what it feels like to be a patient. He has battled Hodgkin lymphoma, undergone cardiac bypass and stood by his wife as she fought sarcoma. Dr. Vogelzang now brings that sensitivity to the more than 100 patients he sees each week as an oncologist treating numerous types of cancers. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Vogelzang is a renowned contributor to the field of cancer research. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has developed new therapies for the treatment of prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, testicular cancer and mesothelioma.

Dr. Vogelzang has nearly 40 years of experience as an oncologist, with five years as director of the Cancer Research Center of the University of Chicago where he was also the inaugural Fred C. Buffet Professor of Genitourinary Oncology. His areas of expertise are prostate, kidney and bladder cancers. His day-to-day responsibilities include treating patients four to five days a week and interacting with industry and federal officials regarding next generation studies for cancer research. Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada is an award-winning oncology group with pediatric, radiation oncologists, and breast surgeons with 12 treatment centers throughout southern Nevada.
Dr. Vogelzang attributes his success to his parents. He became involved in his profession because he always loved science and because the value of caring for others was always a part of his family.

Dr. Vogelzang received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Vogelzang is affiliated with numerous groups. A sampling includes the American Association of Cancer Research, the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has also won numerous awards throughout his prestigious career, including Nevada's Distinguished Physician 2013 and a Gold Certificate of Excellence from the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Vogelzang was also named a "Top Doctor" by U.S. New & World Report. When he is away from the office, Dr. Vogelzang enjoys reading, riding his bike and spending time with his family.
