WASHINGTON, DC, June 22, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Specialty Hospital of Washington (SHW) - Capitol Hill has joined with Mayor Vincent Gray in the One City - One Hire program and its effort to put District residents back to work.
Many people across the country are aggressively seeking employment including the residents in the District of Columbia. Mayor Vincent Gray along with the District of Columbia Employment services has launched an aggressive hiring initiative "One City - One Hire."
One City - One Hire is an employer-driven hiring initiative with the goal of putting District residents back to work. One City - One Hire is an innovative economic development strategy that serves as a catalyst to jump-start Mayor Gray's pledge to put all unemployed District residents--in every Ward of the city--back to work.
A career fair was held on May 6th at the Washington Convention Center and featured over 16 hospitals in the Washington metro area -including the Specialty Hospital of Washington. Susan Bailey, CEO of Specialty Hospitals of Washington, attended and offered positions ranging from nursing and information technology to business office, billing collectors, food services and environmental services.
The "One City, One Hire" program now has more than 900 area employers involved, and as a result, more than 5,900 District residents has found employment with the DC region.
