PLANO, TX, June 22, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- According to the Small Business Administration, sixty-six percent (66%) of small firms fail within the first two years. Tarsha Polk, founder of The Marketing Lady, has found a way to beat the Small Business Administration's survival rate odds by being committed to helping other small business owners succeed. Polk launched her first marketing business as a graduate student as a means of generating income while she pursued her degree. Inspired by other successful entrepreneurs, Polk stepped out on faith in 2003 and hasn't looked back since.
"I call myself an accidental entrepreneur because my goal was to climb the corporate ladder and become a marketing VP," says Polk. "Then, one day I met a business owner at a networking event who asked me to help her market her business. It was a successful first-time opportunity, so the owner encouraged me to give entrepreneurship a shot."
Polk remembers times when she struggled in her business and contemplated going back to corporate America. But, just when she had almost given up, she would get a new client or project from a referral. As a result, Polk attributes her perseverance and determination to succeed to her faith and ability to create long-lasting relationships in the business community.
To that end, Polk's passion for entrepreneurship and marketing should not be underestimated. As a consultant, Polk has provided business counseling to individuals in underserved communities; as a speaker, she has traveled across the state educating military veterans about entrepreneurship, and as a professor, Polk has taught marketing at some of the area colleges and universities.
"Tarsha is very passionate and knowledgeable about what she does. But what sets her apart is her honesty and openness," says Juan Piggee, managing partner at Narrow Edge Innovations. "She says what she means and means what she says. That's very rare these days," he said.
As Polk closes in on her 10-year anniversary, she has now serviced over 500 clients with personal branding, marketing coaching and business training services. Her business has grown through word-of-mouth referrals--a testament to the quality service that she provides.
During National Small Business Week, Polk is available to share her story of "Passion and Perseverance" with your audience. To learn more, visit her online at www.TheMarketingLady.com.
