Ms. Durham has over 10 years of experience in law, with over four years as a member of the Bar Council and over two years as President of the British Virgin Islands Bar Association - the voice of the legal profession of the British Virgin Islands. For many years she was a Senior Associate at the oldest and one of the most reputable law firms in the British Virgin Islands. Earlier this year, Ms. Durham along with her partner, an experienced and well-respected financial services/accounting professional, have started a corporate consultancy practice - Sage Corporate Consultants Limited. As a Barrister and trial lawyer in the areas of international commercial law, insolvency and civil litigation in the British Virgin Islands, she represents a wide range of clients from all around the world and advocates before the courts of The Eastern Caribbean . She conducts a great deal of cases personally and manages legal teams, in some instances working along with distinguished Queen's Counsel from London and lawyers from other parts of the world with respect to cross border commercial litigation involving directors and shareholders of BVI companies some of which are Mutual Funds and many of which form part of highly lucrative corporate groups and conglomerates, holding assets and interests in critical sectors and industries all around the world.
A principled and driven professional, Ms. Durham attributes her success to her strong fortitude and the core values that she adheres to and lives by. She became involved in her profession due to her desire to be a lawyer from a young age; she has a keen sense of making strong contributions, with regards to law and justice, to help others resolve issues and disputes, and to essentially restore their positions in a proper way. Ms. Durham received an LLB in law, with honors, from The University of the West Indies in 2000. Ms. Durham is the youngest person to serve as the president of the British Virgin Islands Bar Association. She is also one of the few honorary members of COMBAR and The Chancery Bar of England, as well as one of the few non-English lawyers who are part of these organizations. To benefit the less fortunate, she supports and is involved in philanthropic endeavors in North America, Africa and the Caribbean. A number of humanitarian causes are dear to her particularly those focused on the empowerment of women, the welfare of the elderly within our society; and the strengthening of families. In years to come, Ms. Durham plans to expand the consultancy firm she co-founded as well as play a greater role in developing the companies she currently advises and works along with in the US, so that they all become highly lucrative corporations and business models. She also intends to make a greater contribution not merely to her profession, the legal profession, but also to the global corporate and financial sectors.
