With sixteen years of experience as an educator and in advancement and one year as director of advancement for strategic university initiatives at The College of Arts & Letters for Idaho State University, Ms. Jarvis Grimes attributes her success to her passion, colleagues, family and husband. She became involved in her profession because she has two professional passions, advancement in the arts and interdisciplinary university initiatives. Higher education has always been her passion, and she has a desire to make a difference and be part of a global and innovative vision. Furthermore, she serves as a clinician and adjudicator at the local, state and national level, and is published with the Leblanc Bell Quarterly Educator's Viewpoint and Conn-Selmer Keynotes for her character, education, inspiration and performance.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Jarvis-Grimes served on a successful team as director of external relations and development for the Office of Research and Graduate School at Washington State University. She worked closely with many major corporations, private foundations, and individual donors to foster and advance funding alignments with research priorities. Ms. Jarvis-Grimes also served on the Center for Environmental, Research, Education and Outreach Executive Committee to collaborate and develop interdisciplinary federal and state proposals, as well as opportunities with private foundations and industry. Ms. Jarvis-Grimes has two professional passions, advancement in the arts and interdisciplinary university initiatives. She has participated as an adjunct faculty member and taught music education technical courses, student teacher supervision, and introduction to arts administration. She has been a representative to the College of Education Teacher Education Committee and the state Professional Education Advisory Board. As Executive Director of the Washington-Idaho Symphony, she successfully led the individual donor and corporate fundraising ventures, private and federal grants, and operational aspects of the organization from 1996-2007.
Ms. Jarvis-Grimes received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Dayton and is presently pursuing graduate studies. She is a member of the Golden Key Honor Society and Rotary International. Outside of her professional career, she enjoys mountain biking, downhill skiing and running. In five years, Ms. Jarvis-Grimes plans to continue in her career and grow within higher education with Idaho State University, where she will continue to be part of their innovation and global vision.
