OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA, July 1, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David W. Bennett, Director of Governance & Component Relations of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nonprofits.
Mr. Bennett has 11 years of experience in the industry, with two years in his current role. His areas of expertise include governance, program management, not-for-profit organization management, business management and development, team building and leadership, and strategic planning. As Director, he is responsible for organizing and managing all aspects of the CPA's day-to-day governance and legislative functions to meet legal requirements within Industry Canada regulations, CPA Bylaws and Rules and Regulations. He is also responsible to organize and manage all aspects of the CPA National office's interaction with provincial Associations, practice Divisions, and student and physiotherapy assistant assemblies with the focus to establish and maintain a culture of consultation and cooperation with the Association's components.
Mr. Bennett is a retired Canadian military officer. He has held various senior management positions in both the defense industry and not-for profit professional associations since leaving the military. He plans to continue to grow with the association and possibly be in an executive director or CEO role, as well as continue to consult and mentor.
He attributes his success to an enduring need to learn and grow personally and professionally, capitializing on risk opportunities, and the benefit of working with great mentors. He became involved in his profession to work in an environment that made a positive difference in the lives of students and professionals. Before coming to the CPA, he was the Director of Defence Engineering and Technical Services for the ADGA Group Consulting Inc.
Mr. Bennett graduated from the Canadian Forces School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of the Canadian Society of Association Executives; Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Association; Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.
He was given the Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Libby Award, the Canadian Forces Decoration CD1 and various electrical and mechanical engineering officer and engineering technologist honors and awards.
He volunteers for charities such as Ride For Dads and CHEO Hospital in Eastern Ontario. His hobbies are motorcycle riding, astronomy, golf and spending time with grandkids.
