VEDC issues loans of up to $750,000 but makes attendance compulsory at a one-day training event on marketing, sales, accounting and planning, with optional attendance at an 8-week business course and 10 hours of one-on-one consulting. The program has a 90% on-time payback rate. Intersect Fund reports that 70% of graduates from its training course start businesses, and that 96% are either running businesses or in employment within 12 months.
